7 weeks old

Smooth sailing to seven weeks! Miss Olivia continues to grow and now weighs 10 pounds, 7 ounces.

This week Olivia and I took a mini road trip by ourselves to Lafayette. We went to meet Grandma Sue because we left so many things at her house the previous weekend! We enjoyed a great lunch and continued to teach her the thrill of bargain hunting. Although, Miss Olivia prefers to be held while shopping so she can see everything on the racks and shelves. As a bonus, her stroller can then be used to hold all of the great finds.

Olivia and Tinker continue to bond. They enjoy spending play time with their dad:

They also enjoy an afternoon nap (on the rare occasion Olivia agrees to a nap!):

Josh and I also celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary this week. It's hard to believe it has been ten years since that first meeting at Franklin College. What an adventure it has been! Five college degrees, a house, a dog, and now a daughter! Like the title of our song says, "I Could Not Ask for More"!

6 weeks old

Last week, Olivia went for her one month check-up. She weighed in at 10 pounds, 3 ounces and was still 21.5 inches long. Although, I think she may have been a bit scrunched up when they measured her length because she just looks longer than she did at her last check-up. I guess we shall see next time! She was also very brave when she got her shot and only let out a brief (but ear-piercing) shreek.

Olivia also took her first road trip! We headed north to the Region for Auntie Lisa's bridal shower. Once we reached I65, Olivia took a long nap and slept the rest of the way. We thought we had packed everything except the kitchen sink...and then I realized we had left the Pack N Play at home. A place for Olivia to sleep? Minor detail! Have to love Wal-Mart!

Uncle Drew and Auntie Lisa were both in town for the shower and Olivia was very excited to meet them both. She did her best not to scare them so that maybe she will have a few more cousins one day. :-)

Olivia loved being in her party dress with lacy socks for the bridal shower. It probably helped that Daddy Josh came to pick her up after about an hour and took her back to Grandma and Grandpa's house!

Olivia got to meet so many family members on this trip! I think it's safe to assume she loved all of the attention! It was particularly special that she got to meet her great-grandma and great-grandpa.

All in all, a very fun and busy trip! Someone was not to happy to have to leave so soon...

Happy Father's Day!

"Any man can be a father. It takes someone special to be a dad."~Author Unknown

Today, Josh celebrated his first Father's Day. Miss Olivia wanted to spend as much time as possible with him, so she woke us up at 2 am and decided to stay up for a few hours. But, ever the good dad Josh stayed awake until she finally fell asleep. Josh is an amazing dad. He loves to hold and snuggle with Olivia and she LOVES their time together too! He is always so proud to show her off in person or through pictures. To watch the two of them together makes my heart happy and once again so thankful for the little miracle we have in our lives.

Because Olivia loves to lay on Josh's chest, she and I decided Josh needed a hammock for Father's Day. The two of them have certainly been enjoying it when the weather allows!

5 Weeks Old

5 weeks old already?!? It seems like just yesterday we were buying this outfit after finding out we had a daughter on the way. Now she is here and weighing in at 9 pounds, 13 ounces!

This week, she discovered her reflection in the mirror. I'm not sure if she realizes it's herself, but she stopped crying when she saw that "other" baby wailing!

She also loves lounging in bed with us on a Sunday morning! Pass the Target ad please!

Tinker is finally realizing she is here to stay. He is also taken to letting Olivia share "his" bed.

Four Weeks/1 Month

Who's one month old? Me! Miss Olivia continues to grow and is currently weighing 9 pounds, 4 ounces.

She continues to be a pretty happy baby, but will definitely let you know when she is not! You'll notice she no longer has the hair bow on in the second picture. Despite all that beautiful hair, she's not always a fan of hair accessories.

Although, I can usually sneak in a hair clip without her fighting it too much!

She has also started to eat from a bottle! Daddy Josh had the honor of giving her the first bottle and she did great! With a little advanced planning, this also means Mommy can have an occasional night out.

We have also been lucky that Josh has been able to spend some long weekends at home. It definitely makes it easier to get out and do things with an extra set of hands! It has also been nice having some extra family time. This week, we went to the Strawberry Festival on the Circle. The weather was wonderful and Olivia thoroughly enjoyed her strawberry shortcake.

My future's so bright, I have to wear shades!

Newborn Pictures

We were very lucky to have our good friend and photographer, Jackie Magdich, http://photosbyjackiephotography.blogspot.com , capture some pictures of our new family shortly after Olivia arrived. Jackie always manages to take beautiful photographs we absolutely love and this time was no exception. Below are just a few of the wonderful pictures she took. You can see all of them, including pictures of Olivia's nursery, at http://www.pictage.com/1056008. I hope you love them as much as we do!

Three Weeks

This week, Miss Olivia hit a growth spurt...she must have been tired of "only" wearing her newborn clothes. I was all too happy to fire up the washing machine (in between all of the feedings that go along with said growth spurt!). Olivia now weighs an even 9 pounds!

Grandma Sue also went back to Valpo at the beginning of the week. We loved having her with us. Who knew so many delicious meals could be prepared with the items in our fridge and pantry?!? And, Olivia loved snuggling with her, but we had to learn to survive by ourselves eventually! But, Josh will be off on Thursday and Friday this week so we'll only be flying solo for a few days.

Lastly, Olivia has been trying to lift her head to look around since she was born. Now that she is staying awake for longer periods of time, we are starting to have more tummy time. Some times she likes it, some times...uh, not so much!
