She's not quite ripe yet...

34 weeks: Baby weighs as much as a cantaloupe

Your baby has bulked up like the average cantaloupe -- to about 4 3/4 pounds.

(Length: almost 18 inches, head to heel.)

Yay, for a short work week because spring break officially kicks off on Friday! We have had another busy, but good, week! We were very fortunate to another shower last weekend, this time in da region. We received so much great stuff we had to put some of it in Grammy Banks car to bring down to us. Baby girl is a very lucky lady (as are her mom and dad!)

Today we had our 34 week appointment. While baby girl and I are both in good health, she is ready to hit the ground running, aka she is in a breech position. So, girlfriend has two weeks to work on her gymnastics and flip herself around. At my 36 week appointment, they will again check to see what position she is in. If they can't tell with absolute certainty, they will do an ultrasound to confirm her position. If she is still in breech, they will attempt to move her into the correct position "manually from the outside." If can't coax her into the right position, we will have to discuss scheduling a C-section. So, please pray (or at least keep your fingers crossed) that she is cooperative!

In the mean time, here we are!

Thankfully, she doesn't have the texture of a pineapple!

33 weeks: Baby weighs as much as a pineapple

Your baby is proportioned like a pineapple when it comes to weight -- a little over 4 pounds.

(Length: more than 17 inches, head to heel.)

Last week was a very busy week and things don't seem to be slowing down any time soon! We had our first shower and were blessed with many fabulous gifts! (Pictures to come soon!) We also started our childbirth prep classes. Let me just say you really don't realize (at least I didn't!) just how big 10 centimeters is until you see it on a huge diagram. I believe the discussion about "pain medication options" will be the third class...yeah, I'm definitely going to need a lot of information about that option!

I have also been joking that it feels like baby girl is trying to put on an addition in my tummy. I can feel her stretching as if to say, "It is too crowded in here! I need more room!" Well, I think she is succeeding! When I look in the mirror I feel like I have suddenly gotten a whole lot bigger. Several of my co-workers have also commented, "Wow, you have really popped!" Um, thanks? Any who, I'll let you be the judge.

Babymoon!

This past weekend, Josh turned the big 3-1! (I told him his big gift wouldn't arrive until ~ May 9 :-)) He also had a conference to attend for work in Chicago. We decided to turn it into a Babymoon as it will probably be our last trip as a two-some. We stayed at the Intercontinental, enjoyed some delicious food, and (of course) did some shopping!

As is unfortunately becoming a habit, we forgot the camera! We did take a few pics with cell phones. It would have been nice to have some slightly warmer weather, but all in all it was a very nice trip!

Dinner at Grand Lux, aka dessert lovers paradise!

Enjoying a Berry Fizz while pretending it's a strawberry daiquiri

Off to shop!

Fun at Navy Pier!

I was so excited to see Mackinac Island Fudge from Ryba's! Mmm, chocolate peanut butter!

Josh posing with Harry Caray

Enjoying lunch at Harry Caray's before heading home. The chicken vesuvio pizza was definitely interesting!

We can't wait to head back to Chicago this summer with our baby girl!

Got to love a good jicama...

Baby weighs as much as a jicama

Your baby is taking up more and more space in your uterus and weighs as much as a large jicama -- about 3 3/4 pounds.

Length: about 16 3/4 inches, head to heel.

(Seriously BabyCenter, where do you get most of these fruits and veggies???)

Things continue to move in the right direction as we race to the big day! And it's a busy week for us! A baby moon (more about that in the next post) in Chicago, childbirth prep classes start, and my good friend Alex is hosting a baby shower for Baby Banks and I. What a fun week!

Josh took my 32 week belly pic outside this week. A little different scenery than our bathroom, wouldn't you say? Notice the river is dyed green for St. Patty's day coming up on Thursday! Have to love the Windy City!

Extreme Home Makeover: Nursery Edition

Over the last few months, the room off of our bedroom has certainly had quite a transformation! From a green home office with lots of papers to a pretty taupe nursery, this may be some of Josh's best work yet!

Today the crib mattress (thank you Grandma and Grandpa S.!) and rug arrived. Of course, I had to make the bed and roll out the rug as soon as Josh carried them in for me. So here's is a sneak peak of how the nursery is shaping up!

Does it get much cuter than this?

A very talented colleague of Josh's, Mary Beth Bagg, knitted baby girl a gorgeous baby blanket and booties. Is there anything more that says BABY more than booties?!?

I hope baby girl is not too disappointed that her mommy is more of a shopper than a knitter!

Orange you glad...

31 weeks: Baby weighs as much as four oranges

Your baby now weighs as much as four navel oranges.

Length: over 16 inches, head to heel.

The nursery is complete! All that's left now is to shop for accessories and finishing touches. I think Josh would probably rather keep doing construction projects. :-P

As we get closer to baby girl's due date, our excitement continues to grow! To add to the fun, more potential playmates are heading her way. We are so excited that many of our friends are also expecting. Some of our friends and family are already great parents and others certainly will be! At least we won't be the only ones in the restaurant with a crying infant!
