A little early for corn beef and cabbage
30 weeks: Baby weighs as much as a large cabbage
Your baby rivals a good-size cabbage in weight, tipping the scales this week at 3 pounds.
(Length: about 15 3/4 inches, head to heel.)
It was a very busy weekend! We became certified in infant/child CPR. Josh and Grandpa Al finished up the nursery. Our former home office went from this:
To this:
As you can see, this transformation was no small feat! New flooring, crown moulding, paint, and a new ceiling fan, just to name a few things! Baby Banks is lucky to have such a handy daddy who will be able to fix the things she breaks (if she takes after me!) and put together her toys.
Most of the nursery furniture also arrived, but the changer had some technical difficulties in its travels. Fear not, the replacement is on it's way!
As I have hit the 30 week mark, doctors appointments have increased to every other week. Every thing continues to be progressing just as it should. We are also able to see her moving more frequently. And just like her mother, she has most of her energy at night. :-)

The Princess Has Spoken!
As we were heading to bed last night, Josh was saying good night to the baby as he does every night. As much as he likes to be able to feel her kick or move, she will only occasionally oblige him. (For some reason, she typically prefers to move around when it's just she and I.) He told her we were going to start working on her closet soon and then asked her if she was daddy's princess. With a full body turn and a definitive kick, I he has his answer! I think she was also pretty excited about her closet. :-)

Less than three months to go!
29 weeks: Baby is the size of a butternut squash
Your baby is as big as a butternut squash, weight wise -- about 2 1/2 pounds.
(Length: a tad over 15 inches, head to heel.)
The nursery is nearly complete! All that remains is to put up the crown moulding and install the closet system. Of course, when we asked our favorite three-year-old, Spencer Galyen, for his expert opinion of what he thought of the room he looked around and said, "Um, there's no bed!" Touché, Spencer, touché. The nursery furniture has been ordered (thank you, G & G Szafarczyk!) and should hopefully arrive soon.
With each passing week, I feel a little more large and in charge! Thank goodness it is still winter and baggy sweaters, leggings, and flats make up a majority of my wardrobe.

Happy Valentine's Day!
28 weeks: Baby is the size of a Chinese cabbage
Your baby is equal in weight to a Chinese cabbage -- about 2 1/4 pounds.
(Length: almost 15 inches, from head to heel.)
I have officially entered my third trimester! It is hard to believe that something that started out the size of a poppy seed is now the size of a cabbage. I feel like I somehow blinked and the second trimester was over!
I had an appointment with the OB today. And to celebrate Valentine's Day, I had the "pleasure" of drinking an orange glucose drink in order to check my sugar levels. I really wish I could've just eaten a box of Godiva. It would have been much more tasty! Oh well! Everything appears to be fine and since it is the third trimester, the doctor's appointments go from monthly to biweekly. Things (and Baby Girl) are really moving now!

A Quick Recap in Pictures
I'm not going to lie...when I received my weekly e-mail about Baby Girl's development and read that this week marks the end of the second trimester, I panicked a little bit! Seriously, we have a lot to do in the next 13 weeks.
Josh has been taking pics of my belly since the day we found out I was pregnant. I had almost forgetten what my formerly (relatively) flat tummy looked like!

As pretty as a flower...
27 weeks: Baby is the size of a head of cauliflower
Your baby is as hefty as a head of cauliflower, weighing in at almost 2 pounds. (Length: about 14 1/2 inches.)
Well, we survived the snow and ice storm last week! We were fortunate enough to not lose power and managed to get quite a bit done. Baby girl has started having hiccups. I hope they do not bother her because they are funny to watch! I can also feel her twirling about. At first, it was a little unsettling to suddenly feel something hard moving around. Although, all her moving about is starting to zap my energy again. Oh well!
